Difficulty with connecting to data plug

Hello, I have just bought a VW data plug for my 21 reg Karoq. However when I try to bluetooth connect my phone to the data plug, it tells me that the PIN is not recognised. I have entered the PIN several times in case I made an error but I still get the error message. Any help gratefully received.
