Government to scrap ALL EV grants.

For anyone thinking of going Full EV, PHEV or hybrid EV.......
I was informed by the trade this morning that ALL grants towards the above are ending.
Together with inner London congestion charges will now apply to ALL cars, even100% battery powered.
I cannot understand HMG.
They keep bleating about how we must do away with the horrible, polluting I.C.E and then they cancel all incentives, putting EVs out of the price range of many, including me!

Left hand not talking to right hand?? As you say, electric cars are still far more expensive that IC cars, with a more limited range and much longer 'refuel' times. As far as I am concerned, a small one could cope with local shopping trips, but as it would have to be a second car any savings in fuel costs would be swallowed up by its initial cost and depreciation. Couple that with asking yourself how many car owners have drives or garages where they can be charged, and what they do when staying with family or friends, and it's only the well-off are bothering to buy them at the moment.

Also, I think the Treasury are getting cold feet when they realise how much fuel duty they will lose if people do switch to electric cars; that trying to impose road tolls on all roads will be extremely expensive; and doing it on motorways only will just drive the average motorist back to A roads!

Note for readers... this topic has been discussed in more detail at https://www.kodiaqforums.co.uk/viewtopi ... 211f37cfcf and the consensus seems to be that the grant will not be removed until 2023.

The subsidy for electric vehicles (four-wheelers) stays unchanged at Rs. 10,000 per kWh. For an electric car, the maximum incentive value is Rs. 1.5 lakhs.

The thread was talking about UK policy. I presume you are in a different country (India?) but you have not entered this in your profile.
