Hi,

My Karoq (68 plate) has recently been switching on the headlights/night display far earlier than it used to, and I am wondering if the light sensor is dirty. Anyone any idea where this sensor is located?

Thanks

Mel

Hello Mel,
The sensor is behind the windscreen mirror mount. The large black area viewed from outside. If your windscreen is dirty, that could be the problem. Doubtful though as it lies within the wiper's swept area.
I have had an enormous amount of interior condensation recently with the outside temperature not knowing where they wan to be. If you have also had this problem, you may find you have condensation within the camera/sensor unit.
If you can get a hairdryer in the car, warm (AND I STRESS WARM!) it up fo 5 -10 minutes. DO NOT use high heat or you may damage the electronics within.
If this doesn't work, I'm afraid it looks like a trip to your dealer and Skoda dodgy electrics may have claimed another victim!

The light assistant also reacts to high contrast as well as low light levels. So I find that if I am driving with a setting sun behind me, it will switch the headlights on so I am more visible to cars driving into the sun.
