Cycling water bottles are an inconspicuous but important part of the Tour de France. Let’s see if the new ŠKODA KAROQ can hold a week’s stock of bottles for one team.

Before the start of this year’s first stage of the world’s most famous cycling race, racer George Bennett said: “Our Tour de France team goes through as many as a thousand bottles in a week. I was wondering whether they can fit into this car.”

Joe, the host of the Will it Fit? series was of course quick to take up the challenge of the professional cyclist for the Lotto NL – Jumbo Team. To help him, he invited not only the ŠKODA KAROQ in the Lotto NL – Jumbo team colours but also a second identical car in the production version.

The yellow-and-black KAROQ was full with the Netherland cycling team’s professional gear. Inasmuch as the white car didn’t have any load for the Tour de France, there was no problem for it to be used for this experiment and to demonstrate the spaciousness and variability of the new compact SUV’s interior.

The rear VarioFlex seats can be taken out individually but also can be shifted by as much as 150 millimetres, thereby substantially increasing the luggage compartment space. You can see in the video how Joe made use of this and other advantages of the new ŠKODA KAROQ when testing whether a thousand cycling bottles would fit into one.

Decent amount of space then. I did read the Karoq is smaller inside than the Yeti, is this true or just from unhappy Yeti owners?
