I have just spent 45 minutes searching the web, but technical details regarding updates and which car has what gearbox are as rare as hens teeth, apart from general chit chat about 6 & 7 speed.

I am sure that somewhere, not so long ago, I heard that the DQ700 has been updated and made 'wet'.
The DQ 200 is generally considered to be a better box than the DQ250.

I believe that Karoq 4x4 have different gearbox. Perhaps the DQ500???

Your Skoda service manage or senior technician MUST know as they will have been on courses and have the technical details of all cars. If you dealer claims ignorance, change your dealer!! and try ringing another one.
I also heard that the 4x4 has different box. Perhaps the DQ500???

If all else fails ring Skoda Customer Services 0333 003 7504 and ask to speak to a TECHNICAL MANAGER. Don't be fobbed off by the bod that answers the 'phone. they are not technically qualified.

All I can add with certainty is that 6 out of my 7 Skodas have had the DQ200 (Kodiaq had DQ250) All 7 have been absolutely faultless.
If you find out for certain, do please post the information here, as will I if I can get to the bottom of it.

I have at last found the answer.
7 speed 1.5 EVO engines are fitted with the DQ381 wet clutch. Much more robust than the DQ 200. which the DG381 superceded.
They require a change of transmission fluid and filter every 3 years or 38k miles. Whichever comes soonest.

Hi I thought the DQ381 is the 4x4 version of the DQ380. So the 4x4 1.5 Karoq would I guess use this box. But I understood the 1.5 front drive Karoq uses the DQ200-7 dry clutch. This has had many updates but still uses the same code DQ200.
Could anyone confirm this as I thought mine was a DQ200 dry clutch and did not need fluid changes.

We bought a 1.5 TSi 150PS 2WD DSG on June 28th and I have finally had it confirmed by the dealer that it is definitely fitted with the wet clutch DSG.

Yes, But which one? DQ 250 or DQ380.?
I assume that my Edition 4x4 has the DQ381?
All of which are wet. 7s.

Oh dear! Skoda UK has confirmed that our Karoq is fitted with the dry clutch gearbox. I now have an issue to take up with the dealer over the extended warranty. It was on my list of options but the sales person hadn't included it and said it could be taken up for the fourth year. However, I've now found that this doesn't cover gearbox failure , which is a possibility. Skoda UK has told me that if the car was pre-registered, it can't have the extended warranty from new. Had I known this, I would not have bought the car as we plan to keep it for four years. I now need to find out whether the sales person has misled us.

If you can't get Skoda extended, hunt round the web for others that will warrant the car and probably cheaper than Skoda!
I am getting a bit sick of Skoda excluding things from their warranty, what with the door protectors on the Kodiaq and now (possibly) the gear box. If this is true, I'm afarid it will be the last Skoda I buy, although I never keep cars out of warranty.

The dealer has spoken to Skoda and they have agreed to apply the extended 4-year warranty. It’s only because of reports about the unreliability of the dry clutch DSG that I wanted the extended warranty to cover all repairs. Otherwise the Karoq is absolutely brilliant and a worthy successor to our Yeti.
