My . first experience of LED lights was the Kodiaq and I was seriously impressed. best lights I have ever had. True 70mph projection.
The Karoq also has them and although still exceptional, not quite as good as 'big brother'.
My last 2 Yetis had Xenon and although excellent, I would not say they were nearly as good as LED.
I do think that because the LED beam is more concentrated it is more important to have them correctly aimed.
LED headlights - one disadvantage I had not considered

Is that auto main beam, switches to dipped automatically. My mates 1953 Cadillac has that feature, standard figment in 1953, nothing new like many things automotive

This was fitted to a Qashqai I hired a few years back; I turned it off after it tried to kill me in Devon. I was driving fairly quickly down a dark, narrow lane with high banks and as I approached a sharp corner it dipped the lights and left me virtually blind. It seems it mistook the sharp bend chevron sign reflecting my lights back at me for an oncoming car... Yes indeed. There are far too many gimmicks on these cars that are unnecessary

Ian’s posting confirms the worry I had about automatic beam assist when ordering my Karoq. I love “gadgets” but eventually decided beam assist was a gizmo too far for me and didn’t opt for it. I’m sure many will be happy with it but having driven in excess of 1.5 million miles, starting with a dip/main beam function being operated by a large foot operated button on the floor, I like to have control of this function.
Thanks for your post Ian.

I love the feature as I only have one arm, so letting the tech do the work for me instead of having to switch to dipped beam before every corner in case something is coming the other way as I can't switch it myself once steering round the corner is a massive bonus. Had no issues with it so far either... Appreciate some will find it a gimmick, but for me it is a great aid to have
