Had this fault several weeks ago, took the car to the dealer who carried out a full diagnoses resulting in the fault being sorted & everything is back to normal operation, dealer commented after the repair that a likely cause was an error with
the vodaphone SIM card also low battery voltage due to not using the car for a few days as we are not using our cars as much because off lock down etc, The vodaphone SIM card error is the one that sticks out but anyway our car is all sorted. For the time being.

It seems to be an endemic fault, but one my car has not experienced (touch wood!), but hopefully the added publicity will generate a bit more effort to resolve it.

Thanks for the link! It’s now all over social media, I’ve been furiously sharing /re-sharing & tagging various news outlets 😆.

I’ve had a case open with Skoda for a few months now. I’m pretty annoyed as I’ve made about 200+ miles worth of trips to the garage and sat waiting for hrs on end, to be treated like a moron who had made the whole thing made up in their head.

Anyway, two days ago after being told to book it in with a different dealership by skoda( they want data). I was told that it was an ongoing problem and that the czech factory knew about since last year. The dealer told me they were receiving 8-10 calls per day about it( in east London).

A day later I got a call from the case investigator handling my case or me I don’t know for sure? When I brought up the conversation with the dealership the case investigator admitted it was an ongoing issue but still wanted me to go to the garage for testing. I explained that the dealership said there is nothing they can do without a fix from Skoda , so if she wanted it to go in she can call the dealership and get them to call me with a courtesy car at the ready...4 days later...nothing. Karoq is less than 6 months old so next move is to refuse the vehicle, however Maybe this story breaking will help?

Having been reading all the messages about the faults with all the members sos messaging faults, what I do not understand is that my dealer was able to rectify the sos fault with our Karoq why can all the dealers from whom all the members bought their Karoq’s from not able to rectify the sos system’s surely it can not be that difficult for their technicians,
I was sitting in the service reception for approx 2 hours, what I cannot understand is that comment which stated that the fSkoda factory are working on the fault but it looks like that my dealer in N.I has been able to fix the fault before the factory were able to find a fix for the fault.

I get feeling that the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing over at Skoda HQ. I imagine if I went to a selection of different dealers that they would give me a variety of different answers. The fact remains, however anybody from Skoda looks at it, is that my vehicle and and huge number of others are defective & quite possibly have been knowingly sold that way. Perhaps once your dealer has shared the fix & that data has been inputted to the Skoda database & will be tried on other vehicles?

Just saw this post, sorry for the late response! That’s very interesting, I have thought about the sim before and the battery, but the dealer poo-pooed me every time. I’ll mention it to the case investigator when(if) she gets back to me. Thanks for the info :D

Thanks for posting this link to a really interesting article. I had my new SE Drive delivered in April and this issue started rearing its head a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping it had gone away by it happened again today. When I get the chance I will take the car to my local dealership in Bristol. The car was a factory order that came to me via the Burntwood, Staffs dealership but I'm not going all the way to Burntwood to be told there's nothing they can do or, worse still, to leave the car with them! At least I can then get it registered as an problem, even if I'm not too optimistic about it getting fixed.

Not that I want this (because mine was an order with a few higher spec options added) but I do wonder if Skoda are legally obliged to replace the vehicle if they can't fix the problem, on the basis of it not being fit for purpose..

Unfortunately I've suffered from this problem just one week after taking ownership of a brand new Scala! I've been told by the dealership that Skoda will be rolling out a software update fixing the issue on 20 June 2021 and so have booked the car in to have it fixed after this date. I'm a bit sceptical whether this will cure the problem but hope to be proven wrong!

Hi
Am new to the forum. Was delighted to get a new Karoq about 3+ weeks ago, but SOS message came up within a few days. Took til today to get dealership to book car in - no one calling back, delays, people busy etc.
Obviously a bit concerned now that this was a known problem but not shared when we bought the car. Have others got this resolved ok?
