But for the Karoq:

ŠKODA is entering the 2021 model year this summer with plenty of new features for its vehicle portfolio. The new two- or three-spoke steering wheels found in the ŠKODA OCTAVIA – sporting operating buttons and knurled wheels – are now also being introduced in all other ŠKODA models.

New entry-level diesel for the ŠKODA KAROQ
In the 2021 model year, the ŠKODA KAROQ is available with optional tri-zone Climatronic air conditioning for the first time and can now be equipped with Area View and Trailer Assist too – just like the KODIAQ. When switching its engine portfolio to the Euro 6d standard, ŠKODA is replacing the previous entry-level 115-PS (85-kW) 1.6 TDI diesel with an equally powerful 2.0 TDI from the new EVO generation. In terms of exhaust gas treatment, it uses the ‘twin dosing’ process – just like the 2.0 TDI delivering 150 PS (110 kW), which is replacing the previous 1.6 TDI and is available with all-wheel drive and a DSG as well as front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. The entry-level 1.0 TSI petrol engine will generate 110 PS (81 kW).

No details of pricing yet.

Also announced on the Skoda UK Media Twitter feed:

Skoda’s latest infotainment tech is making its way into the Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq for the start of the 2021 model year. The systems are based on the VW Group’s third-generation infotainment matrix and allow for more custom vehicle settings than ever before.

Novelties include the Laura digital voice assistant, Internet radio and wireless SmartLink tech, online personalization and more.

You also get modern USB-C sockets instead of older USB-A ports, while a USB-C slot above the rear-view mirror can be had as an optional extra.

Thanks to a built-in SIM card, all Skoda infotainment systems (aside from the entry-level 6.5-inch touchscreen one) are to feature a permanent Internet connection. The Laura digital assistant meanwhile can understand as many as 15 languages and can process “fluently spoken sentences in Czech, English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.”

Apps include news and weather reports, while customers that opt for the top of the range Columbus navigation will get a 9.2-inch screen instead of an 8-inch one. Furthermore, your destination can now be transferred directly from the Skoda Connect app to the sat-nav system.

With the online personalization option, you can transfer your Skoda Connect account settings to different Skoda models, so buying a new car doesn’t have to mean starting back over with setting everything up. A maximum of 14 owner profiles and one guest profile can be had per each car – so you can have your Virtual Cockpit layout, assistance systems, climate control and light settings just the way you want.

As for the Scala and the Kamiq, they’ll be getting expanded infotainment features too, plus the optional USB-C port built into the roof above the rear-view mirror.

The MY21 configurator is now available at https://cc.skoda-auto.com/gbr/en-GB/.

The USB-C socket by the rear mirror (to power a dashcam) will cost £130! (Much more than it is listed in the Skoda France price list!)

Area View is £575 (again quite a bit more than the French price) and also seems to be restricted to high-level trims and requires other assist options too.

And wireless charging for phones is back (for £270).

All these prices are dependent on the trim level though, and I've noticed on Sportline trim wireless charging and a heated steering wheel are now standard.

Hi All,

Just ordered my second Karoq on Saturday - due to be built Week 34 and advised today it is an MY21.

Does this date sound about right for MY21 build or is there a chance it’s a 20?

Would be great to have the tweaks that come with the 21 build.

Cheers

The changeover is generally around week 33, so it sounds like you're getting the MY21 car :)

The dealer's detailed build spec will identify whether it's a MY20 or MY21, and when it comes the easy way to tell is that MY21s will have small USB-C sockets rather than the older version.

Yes but an even easier way to see it, is the new stearing wheel, with new buttons 👍 just like the new model Octavia.

I’m going to look for the Crater alloys as the biggest clue when it arrives - fingers crossed all is good!

Happy for you :)

When you get your hands on it, I'll be interested to learn more about the new Amundsen radio system.

The price list says it is still uses an SD card for its maps, but the handbook doesn't show a SD car reader, or say you can update the maps by removing the card. So I'm wondering if the SD card is built-in and not easily accessible or removable.

(As you can tell, I'm getting impatient to see mine in the flesh :)
