I’ve a six month old Karoq SEL auto, and in the last few days it is telling me than ab oil service is due in 30 days. The mileage is only 4000.

Is this a fault?

If it's six months old and set to fixed term servicing , then you shouldn't see the reminder until after 11 months / 9000 miles at the earliest (with the service being due at 12 months and ~9,500 miles).

If it's on variable servicing then it normally lets you drive for up to 18 months, but I suppose it could want it earlier if you make an awful lot of very short journeys so the engine never gets warmed up?

Sounds like the dealer put the wrong date in at the PDI.

PS: Mine is set to fixed term servicing, and despite only having driven 2,500 miles in its first year thanks to lockdowns, my service reminder is prompting me to have a service after 12 months. (Most of my journeys have been shopping trips of 8 miles, wait for 2 hours or so and return.)
