I think it may just be a specific combination of throttle pressure and engine temperature. I haven't noticed it recently but it was on a very light throttle when I did.
BTW anyone else think that first gear is ridiculously short on the DSG?

I have been giving the 'Kangaroo syndrome' a lot of thought. (It was quite bad this morning).
I have found that if you put it in neutral once you have driven a few yards and then give the throttle pedal a good jab to get the revs up it helps.
I know it shouldn't happen, but it does, to some of us!.
I think the problem is that when cold the ECU sets the 'electronic choke' incorrectly. I can't determine if it is too rich or too lean, but I am convinced it is an incorrect mixture problem, which disappears as soon as the engine warms up even slightly.
Anyone else have any thoughts??

The solution is..................

FROM MY DEALER THIS MORNING

Hi Colin,

Yes, they have just released a software update regarding this apparently. Only happens when the car is below 70 degrees. If you are anywhere near us in the next few months then we should be able to do it fairly quickly.

Regards,

I have had my 1.5TSI SEL Manual Karoq since June and have been back to the dealer twice. The first time the dealer said it had been given a software update but as this didn't fix it when I took it back the second time I insisted I go out for a test drive with a senior technician. He agreed there was an issue and felt that it was possibly an air-mix issue. He said he would report it it to Skoda. I have had 3 phone conversations with Skoda Customer Care who admit that Skoda know about the issue and are working on a fix. I don't consider it just a cold start issue and driving in slow traffic is a pain and embarrassing when I have passengers as it looks like I can't drive properly! My only work around is to slip the clutch a little and to keep it in Sport mode. I have just read page 2 and see that a dealer in Hampshire says a fix has now been issued. I suggest we all get on to our respective dealers first thing tomorrow!

Phoned dealer last Monday to let him know that Meadens a dealer in Hants (see above) was advising that a fix had been issued by Skoda.
Dealer said he would contact Skoda. On Tuesday I received the following email from Skoda Customer Care
" Following our conversation on 8 November, I have spoken to our Technical Support Team regarding the issue with your vehicle. Having done so, I have been advised that there is nothing that can be done at this present time, other than await a fix from the Factory. Once a fix has been released, your local Retailer should be in contact with you".
I have sent Skoda Customer Care the text sent to Colin (above) from the dealer Meadens claiming that a fix had been issued.
This is my first Skoda but I am beginning to think I should have bought a Mazda CX-5 instead.

Meadens claimed to have been advised by SUK that a fix was coming. He then advised that he had not yet received it. So not his fault.
I can pass no comment on CX5. I have had Bongo & MX5. Both faultless. I only did not originally buy one because, at the time, Mazda refused to fit a pan roof to any model.
I have had 6 Skodas including Karoq and have been delighted with all of them.

Skoda Customer Care have advised "To the best of our knowledge, a further update has not yet been released to address this issue. The update that is referred to in the forum is, most likely, the initial update that was offered to customers."
So we wait !
