Re: Factory fitted tow bar
To my mind, from when I had a fixed towbar on my Golf many years ago, the towball cover served 2 purposes. 1) To keep the towball lubricated; 2) To stop the towball leaving greasy marks on my trousers (and softening the impact) when I walked into it. So with a retractable towball only the first reas...

Re: Tyre Sizes
My Sportline had 225/45 R19s fitted as standard. But as yet few of the the latest all-season tyres are available in that size. The Gen 3 Goodyears aren't offered, nor the Continental 2s, although the Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUVs are.

Re: Skoda connect
@KenA, Yes. You get the SOS service for the life of the car; and breakdown calls, info calls, health reports, service scheduling, personalisation and online system updates for the first 10 years. But you will need to buy an annual licence for Remote Access (to get driving data, parking position and ...

Re: All in service plan
I bought the 2 year service plan when it was on offer, as it gave me 2 services at a low price, fixed for 2 years and paid monthly. But as I have a 5 year warranty I didn't need the extra warranty in the all in one plan. The Skoda Breakdown cover is expensive to renew too as it includes European cov...

Re: Skoda Superb 2015-2019 wanted
I switched from diesel back to petrol when my annual mileage fell, as it avoids problems with particulate filters and AdBlue. You get less mpg of course, and less torque (compared with a turbo diesel) but I switched from a 1.6TD to a 1.4 TSI petrol quite happily. The 1.5TSI petrol is an updated 1.4 ...

Re: To buy a Karoq or not?
All cars seem to have problem electronics nowadays, and it makes nostalgic for the simple mechanical beasts of the 1960s and 70s etc. Until you remember the endemic rust problems and poor fuel consumption! Interestingly, my first car was a 1954 Vauxhall Velox (bought very secondhand in 1964). It was...

Re: Lane Assist and Dynamic Roadsigns not working
Yes!! The front radar cannot read road signs or see the white lines on the road! These are seen by the camera behind the internal mirror! The front radar is only there to detect vehicles in front of you for the Front Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control systems. Now the camera needs to have a clean wi...

Re: Infotainment System - Amundsen
I've also transferred my music library to a USB-C flash drive, but have no problems with it being read by my Amundsen info system. Mine is like this one: https://www.mymemory.co.uk/integral-128gb-fusion-dual-usb-c-usb-3-1-flash-drive-200mb-s.html It states that its transfer speed is up to 200MB/s Re...

Re: Plastic engine cover
Further updates. I have seen reports that newer engines have repositioned ancillary equipment around the engine that prevents a full cover being fitted. These engines will have a smaller cover fitted over part of the engine only. But in Germany, owners who had the covers removed are being told that ...
