Re: Service schedule?
Another update - the thread that just keeps giving! So, as noted, I asked for a first service i.e. oil and inspection, but had to agree that plus an extended scope inspection. Well I wanted to keep the warranty... Turns out I got neither, I got a first variable service, which costs almost as much bu...

Re: Service schedule?
Update! The dealers nagged me after one year, but I ignored that. The car said service due after 2 years, and I agree as 508 oil (if that is what it is) should easily last 2 years and 5000 miles with no short journeys. However, dealer insists on what appears to be first service (oil and inspection) ...

Re: Graunching/screeching rear pads
Re Milfmog's 30k brake pads, surely if the dodgy gizmo hold the brake on thingy is out of adjustment, and holds the brakes on a bit too long, it will either rapidly wear out the clutch, or the brakes, or both.
Or maybe it just isn't letting off far enough.

Re: Service schedule?
Thankyou, gentlefolk all. I don't really think it had a PDI, as such, so no options there. In fact, if it had had a PDI, maybe the salesmen would have been able to open the bonnet (it took two of them and a can of WD40) And even if the thing is set to flexible, I imagine I need to have an annual ser...

Service schedule?
Forgive me if this is somewhere blindingly obvious, but I can't find a service schedule for my Karoq. The car is just over a year old, and the dealer would like £141 to service it. However, they seem totally vague about what this entails. And I don't know if it's on a variable service or a short ser...

Re: Graunching/screeching rear pads
Some pads were made with a metal tag which contacted the disc as soon as the pad was half worn, thus making a dreadful noise and making you change the pads plenty early. No idea if that is still the case, but if it is, and the tag is too long, things could get noisy - and noisier in one direction th...

Re: Start / stop
Very slightly off topic, but I believe you need to take a run at least every three weeks to prevent battery depletion (presumably all the cleverness gobbles up the electricity when the car is not used)

Re: Dash cam diy
Thanks kodiaq - that clarifies a lot of things! The links are very helpful. I discovered I'd been given a hard wire kit, complete with a selection of piggy back connectors and the all important voltage dropper - now I understand what all the bits do! My insurers seem very interested in my having a d...

Re: Dash cam diy
Forgive my ignorance, lovely people, but are we using one of those little converter things that plug into the fuse holder instead of the original fuse (which is then plugged in to the "converter"?
